| Museo de Antioquia is one of the most important museums in Colombia. Located in front of the Plaza de las Esculturas, you can find the biggest collection of Botero paintings in the world.
The museum includes a wide range of art, not all of which is of interest to the average visitor. But, working your way towards the fourth floor where Botero dominates with 108 paintings is half the fun.
Indeed, while Museo de Antioquia appears big from the outside, much of its space is used for large and slightly eerie corridors, which add a little edge to the atmosphere.
Exploring the building you will also get the occasional glimpse of downtown Medellín from one of the few windows on route. The contrast between the chaos of El Centro and the bold calmness of the museum's interior will stimulate your art tentacles a little more. |
