| You’re never far away from a cheap tinto (small black coffee) in Colombia, but if you’re looking for that Starbucks experience then the front runner has to be Juan Valdez.
Indeed, while much of the best coffee in Colombia is exported, Juan Valdez offers a variety of quality brews with tasty snacks on the side.
Such is its success; Juan Valdez has become an icon for all Colombian coffee. Representing the typical coffee farmer, Juan Valdez appears alongside his mule Conchita, carrying sacks of harvested coffee beans.
It’s probably only a matter of time before we see bagels at Juan Valdez, but this being Colombia, we are a long way from early morning opening times catering for the commuter rush to work. |
